One thing often cited as missing from modern football is a relatable relationship between fan and player. The huge financial gap, intense media training and tweeting pictures of expensive cars after losses. None of that helps.

Gianluigi Buffon is taking a stand though. A permanent one. After discovering one fan made the remarkable decision to get the Juventus and Italy goalkeeper's face tattooed on the back of his leg, Buffon wanted to return the gesture.

Thankfully he did not go for the back of his leg like superfan Gio, but his right arm. With Gio under the impression he was taking part in a documentary about tattooing, just look at his face when Buffon turns up.


Of course Buffon's tattoo is not real, because that would be ridiculous. Instead, the moment was part of UEFA Champions League sponsor MasterCard's Priceless Surprises campaign ahead of this weekend's final in Milan.
