  • The Dutch winger was left out of Manchester United's FA Cup final squad
  • Memphis Depay was unhappy with that decision but travelled to Wembley
  • He started only two of Louis van Gaal's last 14 games in charge of the club
  • Depay said the impending arrival of Jose Mourinho was a nice prospect

Memphis Depay claims he can become stronger for the sacking of Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
The Dutch winger was surprisingly left out of United’s side for the FA Cup final despite being in the majority of matchday squads in his debut year.
Depay was unhappy with that decision but wished the players good luck before making his way down to Wembley, then celebrating on the pitch after Jesse Lingard’s extra-time winner.

DEPAY'S PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON

Appearances - 29
Goals - 2
Assists - 0
Chances created - 12
Shot accuracy - 44 per cent
And the 22-year-old believes the experience under Van Gaal, where he started just two of the final 14 games, will hit the Jose Mourinho era running.
Depay scored twice in 29 Premier League games since a £25million move from PSV Eindhoven last summer but is expected to be afforded a chance to impress come next season.
‘A love-hate relationship [with Van Gaal]? I do not know,’ he told De Telegraaf. ‘And now he leaves – this is how things go in football and in life. You learn and you become stronger.’

Depay labelled the arrival of Mourinho a ‘nice prospect’ after it was put to him that international team-mate Wesley Sneijder called the former Inter Milan boss the best he’d worked under.
‘If the arrival of Mourinho becomes official, I’ll ask Wesley Sneijder what kind of man he is,’ Depay added. ‘That’s interesting. It all sounds so, but it is not yet official.’
There is a confidence that United will announce Mourinho’s three-year contract by the end of the week and Jorge Mendes was meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward on Tuesday.
Depay has been on the fringes of the first team recently, starting only two of Van Gaal's last 14 games
