The Nigeria youth international hopes to reach the same heights as his former Golden Eaglets colleague when he returns to the Etihad Stadium after his loan spell in Norway

Midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali has expressed delight at his growth in the Norwegian topflight, and is keen to follow in the footsteps of Kelechi Iheanacho after the expiration of his loan move.
The Manchester City midfielder, on-loan to IK Start, has been impressive in the Tippeligaen in recent games. He has already played 10 times in Norway’s top flight and has one goal to his credit. Nevertheless, he admonishes that he still has progress to make to fulfill his potential.
The 19-year-old scored his first goal for Start in their 1-1 draw at Aalesunds FK before capping another impressive display with an assist in their 2-2 draw against Sogndal on Sunday.
“Playing regularly in Norway’s first division has helped me improve in all aspects of the game,” Nwakali said.
“I have improved greatly on my strengths while there are massive improvements on the other side, but I have to keep on training and do it even better.
“People think playing in Norway was a wrong move because they think it will make me lazy, but I must confess it is not easy at all. You have to be strong, quick and very smart to play here.”
IK Start sit at the base of the Tippeligaen with six points from 12 matches but the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner is confident that the team will avoid relegation.
“I agree, we are not in a very comfortable position but we will escape the drop,” he continued. “We have recorded two away draws in our last two games, and that is a good omen.
“We will keep working hard and with luck on our side, we will move points away from the relegation zone.”
Nwakali praised compatriot Iheanacho for a wonderful season with the Citizens and admits he is keen to emulate him when he rejoins Manchester City.
“Kelechi had a very good season with City and I am proud of him,” he added.
“He is a talented player and also like a brother to me.
“When I return [to Manchester City] soon, I hope to follow his footsteps and do extremely well and get regular playing time
