Laurent Koscielny set to be named Arsenal captain next season
Laurent Koscielny is expected to be named Arsenal captain for the forthcoming season, according to reports in France.
With Mikel Arteta set to leave the Gunners this summer, after two
seasons captaining the club, Arsene Wenger must announce who will take
over his role as skipper.
France Football say 30-year-old defender Koscielny will most likely fill this position after six seasons with the north London outfit.
Current vice-captain Per Mertesacker, as well as goalkeeper Petr Cech, were also in the running to replace Arteta as captain.
Koscielny has made 244 appearances for Wenger’s side since joining for £8.45million from Lorient back in 2010.
