Arsenal’s transfer plans: What Gunners will do next after Xhaka signing revealed
Arsenal completed their first major signing of the summer on
Wednesday as they landed Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for an
undisclosed fee.
And The Mirror claims
that the Gunners want to follow-up the capture of Xhaka with five more new
arrivals over the course of the summer transfer window.
According
to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger wants a top-class striker and centre-back to
bolster his squad after failing short in the Premier League title race again.
Olivier
Giroud finished the season as Arsenal’s top scorer with 16 goals, which
included a final-day hat-trick against Aston Villa and a 15-game barren streak.
It
has long been thought that Arsenal need an upgrade on Giroud, and a defensive
partner for Laurent Koscielny, if they are to seriously challenge for major
honours.
The
Mirror adds that Wenger also has an eye on the future and has younger targets
such as Maxi Romero, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney on his radar.
Romero
is a talented 17-year-old Argentine striker, while defenders Holding, 20, and
Tierney, 18 impressed for Bolton Wanderers and Celtic respectively this season.
