Luis Suarez hopeful of featuring at Copa America despite hamstring injury
The Uruguay striker limped out of Sunday's Copa del Rey final on Sunday night but is hoping to be fit for his country this summer
Luis Suarez is hoping to be fit for Uruguay's Copa America campaign.
The Barcelona striker limped out of Sunday's Copa del Rey final after suffering a thigh injury.
Suarez underwent an MRI scan on Monday, which revealed damage to his hamstring, leading to fears he would miss this summer's centenary tournament.
However, the striker has taken to Twitter to confirm he was hoping to be fit.
"Thanks for the support! Already recovering to be 100% with Uruguay," he posted.
Uruguay are set to link up on June 1 but Barcelona confirmed Suarez will join his international team-mates to continue his recovery.
While it is unlikely he will be fit for the opener against Mexico on June 6, Uruguay hope he could feature in the latter stages of the tournament.
Oscar Tabarez's men also face Venezuela and Jamaica this summer.

Barca secured the double in Suarez's absence as goals from Jordi Alba and Neymar secured a 2-0 win over nine-man Sevilla.
Luis Enrique's men were reduced to 10 men in the first half as Javier Mascherano saw red.
Sevilla's Ever Banega was then dismissed for a trip on Neymar before the Brazilian and Alba both found the net in extra-time. Former Reading defender Daniel Carrico also saw red in the closing stages.
