Karius said that joining Liverpool is 'a very good feeling and it's an honour to play for a club like this'
'I know a lot about the club from watching them on TV. The history, everybody who plays football knows. There a lot of things in my head when I think of this club.
'I spoke to the manager and I had a good feeling afterwards because he told me what he wants to do with the club and with the players.
'It was a good talk with him and after that I was convinced this was the right decision.'
Karius spent part of his youth career with Manchester City and will arrive to put pressure on current No 1 Simon Mignolet.
He started all 34 Bundesliga games for Mainz this year, conceding 42 goals for the sixth-placed club.
Karius has also been capped by Germany Under 21s and kept nine clean sheets in the German top flight last season.

Karius is the third signing of what is anticipated to be a busy summer at Anfield, following on from Joel Matip and Marko Grujic
