France suffer another Euro injury blow
France are sweating on the fitness of Jeremy Mathieu after he became the latest defender to break down with injury.
Mathieu, 32, will miss France’s final warm-up match ahead of Euro 2016 after suffering a calf injury in training.
Didier Deschamps has already lost Raphael Varane to injury and was unable to even consider the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Kurt Zouma and Aymeric Laporte.
The Barcelona defender should be fit before the start of the tournament on June 10 but it is hardly ideal preparation for the hosts, who are now down to only three fit central defenders.
Mathieu has only started 12 league matches for Barcelona this season but he did come on to provide a commanding performance in the Copa del Rey final last week with Barcelona down to 10-men against Sevilla
